In this workshop we will explore sashiko, a striking Japanese hand-sewing technique. Traditionally used to mend textiles, sashiko can just as easily be used to embellish clothing and fabrics around the home. Requiring no special equipment other than a sewing needle and thread, it is a centuries-old embroidery technique that not only strengthens but intricately adorns fabric, bringing it new life.
So bring your favorite denim – a piece that needs mending or something you’d just love to see adorned, or if you don’t have a denim item you’d like to work on, swatches will be provided for you to practice on.
