Sashiko Patches for Chiharu Shiota Exhibit

  • Asian Art Museum 200 Larkin St USA (map)

In this workshop, we will explore sashiko, a striking Japanese hand sewing technique. Traditionally used to mend textiles, sashiko can just as easily be used to embellish clothing. In class, we’ll discuss the history and methods behind sashiko, and then we’ll get to work making our own sashiko patches!

The Asian Art Museum will be hosting me for this workshop as part of their public programs in alignment with Chiharu Shiota’s stunning exhibition.
