Rooted: Where Traditional Crafts Meet The Modern Maker
When I was offered the opportunity to display my work as part of a community exhibit in The McCune Collection, I jumped at the chance. The exhibit will feature many of the makers from The Exchange and it will showcase how traditional crafts continue to evolve in contemporary hands.
The pieces I’ve submitted are meditations on what it is to make, and I’m including a portrait I recently completed of my grandmother’s hands rolling lumpia. I’m extremely proud of this piece, and indeed every piece that I will be showing in the collection.
The exhibit will be open July 11th and Aug 8th for Art Walk from 5-9pm, and open every Saturday from 12-2pm. You can find the McCune Collection in the JFK Library at 505 Santa Clara St, Vallejo, CA.
